Have you sometimes heard about super-intensive language courses, but been left wondering what they are really like and whether they might be suitable for you? Well, the first thing to look at is how many hours a day or a week a super-intensive course takes up. What is the difference between an intensive course and a super-intensive course?
These courses work well for students who have a block of time (usually at least two weeks) on their hands. As mentioned above, a super-intensive is not necessarily always all day; three- or four-hour a day packages are also available which means that it is possible to work part-time while taking a super-intensive course. Full-time work however is impossible with this intensity of daily classes.
A super-intensive course is also ideal for students who like to give themselves challenges. It is not for the faint-hearted, for the type of person who prefers to ‘dip their toe in’ when it comes to new experiences. However, if you like to plunge into new projects ‘head first’, then it is exactly the type of course you will be looking for.
Those who need fast results, because they need to go and work in London or New York for six months for example, are also well-served by these types of courses. It is a good way to brush up on your level quickly if you did have a good level in the past but have got a bit rusty somewhere along the way. Equally, if you are fairly new to the language, it could be just the baptism of fire that you might require.
At Callan School of English, we offer both face-to-face and online super-intensive courses in packs of 12, 24 or 36 hours a week (3, 6 or 9 hours a day). Each day is made up of 50% 1-to-1 and 50% group classes and each level is completed in 48 hours, which provides the maximum level of immersion while still enabling the student to progress quickly with their English.
