With so many language schools out there, it can be hard to choose the one that’s right for you. There are many factors to consider, so let’s see what they are!

The decisive factors

1) Location

Of course one of the first things to consider when choosing a language school is where it is. If it takes an hour to get there from your house, it probably isn’t worth the effort. And most people don’t have that kind of time to spend commuting!

However, there are schools which offer online courses, a very convenient alternative to the traditional classroom setup. This allows students to choose practically any school they want!

2) Price

For many people, price is the most important factor when deciding where they will study a language. However, we must not forget common sense.
The cheapest option is not necessarily the worst, and the most expensive option is not necessarily the best.

Research the schools you’re interested in and, above all, find out how professional they are and what kind of reputation they have.

3) Teachers who are native speakers

Learning a foreign language from a native speaker is essential. The knowledge they have is invaluable; they can answer any question about their language easily.

And being able to listen to the language spoken flawlessly in the accent of a native speaker is something that students must experience.

4) Class size

How many students are in each class? For those considering group lessons, this is an important question. We don’t receive the same amount of teacher attention in bigger groups as we do in smaller groups. The ideal class has no more than ten students.

5) In-person lessons

Would you like to do in-person lessons? As this is the most traditional way of taking lessons, most language schools offer them.

However, with the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the way we normally do things, it’s a good idea to check that the school you’re interested in has the option of doing in-person lessons. And make sure they are taking proper safety precautions.

6) Online lessons

Online lessons offer a convenient and comfortable way to learn a language. You can study the language of your choice from the comfort of your own home.

The time and trouble you save not having to travel to a school is hard to argue with! See if the school where you’d like to study offers online lessons.

7) Business English

Business English courses are very popular, and for good reason. English is in demand in the business world; most desirable jobs around the world require applicants to have a good level of English.

8) Official exam preparation courses

If you would like to prepare for an official English exam, like the B2 (First), C1 (Advanced), then look for language schools that offer exam preparation courses. Many schools have standard courses as well as exam preparation courses, which are structured and taught in a different way.
