To do this, we want to provide you with some tips and advice that you should bear in mind with regards to any learning process.
Recommendations for studying English
1. Lose your fear and forget your preconceptions
Wanting to learn a language is the first step to overcoming the preconceptions that are preventing you from learning; these false ideas are what cause some people to give up at the first obstacle.
Once we have mastered our internal preconceptions, it is time to overcome the external ones. When we think of a language class, the first thing that comes to mind is a classroom with lots of desks in it, a teacher writing on a blackboard and the students reading and copying.
This image may give you the feeling that learning a new language is tedious, boring and slow, which will initially reinforce your negative preconceptions.
At our English academy in Barcelona we want to avoid this and make your experience learning English entertaining and fun; all thanks to our innovative teaching method which is very dynamic and interactive.
Without desks, without blackboards and without long periods of silence, with the Callan Method we can teach you the language through a guided conversation between student and teacher, in which we are able to introduce both all the grammar points and all the vocabulary necessary for your level.
The key to our method is not copying but repetition; through repetition we are able to consolidate what we have learned, eliminate errors thanks to constant and immediate correction and put what we have learned into practice.
The Callan English teaching method is designed to help you become fluent and think and speak in English from the first moment without translating.

2. Focus on the fact that you are going to do something very useful for your future.
Speaking a new language will open your life to a new world of opportunities, because it will make it easier for you to communicate with people from other countries and it will open many doors for you, both in the personal and professional spheres. Each language provides us with different ways of seeing the world and in our academy we want you to see and enjoy this from the first day.
In our English courses, both in person and online, only English is spoken and everything you have learned is used immediately. You will learn new grammar and vocabulary in every class, so every day you will practise both whatever you have already been taught and what is most recent.
Nothing is forgotten or left behind, as everything is practised simultaneously, because if you only worked on what you have already learned you would just stagnate in your comfort zone, so you would see little progress in your ability to understand and speak.
Speaking English constantly and seeing your vocabulary, grammar and fluency move forward every day is what will make you realize that you are doing something really useful and that it is worth the effort and time you are dedicating to it, which in turn makes you want to continue learning more.
3. Consider it as a personal investment and not a chore.
Nobody likes chores and if you look at it from that perspective, you are less likely to be successful in your English course. If you have to learn English for work, instead of seeing it as a mere formality, think of all the job opportunities that will arise thanks to it.
If you have to learn it to communicate better with your partner or their family, or because you like to travel, or to study abroad, think of the personal benefits of being able to communicate with people in their own language.
If you think you are too old, think of the mental benefits and ease of communication that come with studying and speaking another language.
Every effort has its reward, and with the Callan Method students perceive it almost immediately, because you will learn English in a quarter of the time than you would with a traditional method.
Consider that, with the Callan Method, a student can complete the Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET) in approximately 80 hours instead of the 350 that are usually needed with other methods.
We know that the advantages of learning to speak English are endless and the disadvantages simply do not exist, so the important thing is to take the first step At Callan School of English we will help you to speak English in an easy, comfortable and fast way, as we have done with thousands of students who have passed through our academy in our 30-year history.
